Wipe the Slate Clean and Make Your Fresh Start…in 2009!

Filed Under (General) by LaShon Williams at 8:27

January 1st has always been one of my favorite days of the year. Even though most of the world is recovering from a long night of partying, church or a number of other celebratory ways in which they brought in the new year, I look forward to finding a quiet place, centering myself and reflecting for a moment on some of the past and imaging the possibilities that lie ahead in my future. I often compare life to a book. Made up of a series of chapters, each year adding a new chapter to your book called, “My Life”. Chapter 2008 is gone, never to be heard from again and you are ready to write the pages of Chapter 2009. How exciting! After only 365 days you are able to “total” start over. Actually, you have 365 times each year to start over but there’s something symbolic about making your fresh start the first few days of the year. So here’s what I say: What do you want in 2009? A new house, peace, marriage, business, more friends? Whatever it is, it depends on just one person – YOU! Go get it! Yes, okay, our country is in an economic downturn and yes, maybe you’ve just gone through a painful divorce or recent job loss but that doesn’t have to stop your success for this year. If you’re not excited about this new year, get excited! Forget what lies behind and reach forward to all the opportunities that are in front of you. Here at Divorce Recovery Today, we are so excited about your new possibilities. We will be with you every step of the way. Providing you with information that affects your life. Look for new information from DRT. Each month we will feature articles and stories on subjects that concern you. Like: Health- Family- Love- Relationships- Money- Divorce- Recovery- Renewal and much more. Everything you need to know for a successful 2009. This will be your best year yet! We would love to hear from you. Join our mailing list or email us your questions, comments or just let us know what you are thinking. Remember…it’s Mine in 2009! Blessings to you…

Knowing who you are

We know all too well the long-term effects divorce has on everyone involved. How did it make you feel; betrayed, rejected, and vulnerable? When you go through something as painful as divorce or ending a difficult relationship, you think your life is over! But it does not have to be that way. Who you are did not start and stop with your divorce. A fresh start in life means moving forward in total healing to begin a new life. This total healing will have to be done in four major ways: mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and financially.

The ultimate goal is Self Stability!

Self Stability

To attain the highest level of self - stability you must regain your position in life and begin to enjoy life again. Find the value in you that was lost. Know that divorce affects every area of your life including family relationships, work environment and personal relationships.

Strengthening these relationships will add to a speedy recovery and an easier healing process.

Two of our Great Programs!

Make a Fresh Start…On the Road to Recovery!

Is a dynamic workshop that focuses on the recovery process and beginning life anew by making a fresh start. First, you must identify where you are in the process (stages of recovery) and than through applying biblical principles and positive christian character building tools, you can progressively move towards the goal of total healing in every area of your life. Each stage is vital, normal and necessary for the overall healing process.

Children Coping with Divorce

The most innocent yet vulnerable victims of divorce are children. Torn between love and loyalty, children are often caught in the middle of their parents' decisions. Children need and deserve safety, security and love. Raising children after divorce can be very challenging for both the parent and child. Children Coping with Divorce is a workshop designed to help the parents see divorce through the eyes of a child. It gives strategies and principles on how to help children maintain their self-esteem, maintain a positive outlook on life as well as family values. Learning how to set examples for your children is a primary focus of this workshop.

Other Great Programs

Single Parenthood…Food for Thought

Being a single parent in our society is quite common. More children are raised in single parent homes than in two parent homes. Although challenging, it can be a rewarding experience. This workshop will focus on the positive aspects of single parenting and what you can do to build a strong family in a single parent home.

Successful Blended Families

With 50% of marriages ending and more than half are remarrying, the new family in our society is called the blended family. The adjustments to being a step parent, having step siblings and awkward weekend visits can put a strain on the strongest marriage. Can we all just get along? Yes, by building strong blended families.

Financial Recovery: Investing for the Future

It's hard enough getting through the emotional difficulties of a divorce not to mention the financial burden it leaves behind. Lawyers' fees, child support and credit card debt are just a few of the financial hardships. This workshop will teach you how to recover from your financial lows and plan for the future.

Family Care Programs

Congregational Care and Divorce Care for Families deal with both the spiritual and legal spectrums of divorce. What does being divorced mean? How do I navigate through the legal process? Topics such as legal obligation, moral obligation and sound communication are essential for all. This is a proactive approach to working within the church and with the courts to ensure a successful transition all around.
